Community gears up for annual art festival
Southport, Queensland, will be the centre of community and family fun when it hosts the second annual Flourish Art Festival in the Broadwater Parklands.
Described as a colourful and vibrant festival, the event brings together entire families through art and, with the assistance of Gold Coast City Council, this year is expected to be the biggest and most exciting held to date.
Established in 2012 by the Southport Uniting Church, the festival is held to promote art and its ability to help people grow and heal.
As well as artistic endeavours, the Flourish Arts Festival provides entertainment for all ages, with this year’s program offering a host of activities ranging from stalls and workshops to special exhibitions for the whole family.
Radio personality and relationship specialist Peter Janetzki will host a special discussion on raising boys, while children will have an opportunity to participate in various workshops where they will learn about storytelling, art and craft, creative writing, music, dance and drama, and other subjects.
Many exhibitors have had flyers and information sheets produced by printing companies to give out on the day.
Live performances, food stalls, an art craft market and support tents providing family information will also be a part of the day.
