Slacks Creek set for PCYC opening

November marks the opening of a $14 million Police-Citizens Youth Club facility in Slacks Creek, which aims to become a hub for community recreation in Logan.

The single-level centre is 4,700 square metres in size and will offer a large range of sport and recreation activities, as well as youth and indigenous programmes, outside school care and an open-all-hours fitness space. The new facility is a particular boost for local rhythmic and artistic gymnasts, offering the largest gymnasium in the greater Brisbane area with a capacity of 70.

Logan City Councillor Laurie Koranski has welcomed the addition of the PCYC facility, citing the council’s support for community facilities that encourage all ages to be healthy and active.

In a statement, Chief Executive of PCYC Queensland, Phil Schultz, paid tribute to the support for the new facility received from the Logan City Council and the Queensland government. He said the support allowed:

“PCYC Queensland to continue delivering [its] vision of building safer, healthier communities through youth development.”

PCYC delivers a diverse range of activities and community programmes for all ages through its network of 54 clubs throughout Queensland. Poster printing and banner printing can be effective ways to promote clubs within a local area. PCYC has an emphasis on the personal and leadership development of young people.

Programmes to be hosted at the new Slacks Creek centre will include those re-directed from the existing Logan Central PCYC facility.
