A series of workshops aimed at improving all aspects of life, and suitable for all ages, has been organised by positivity psychologists. The workshops, called Time to Write, offer a return to the age-old tradition of discovering more about oneself through writing by hand.
The aim of the workshops is not only to rediscover the almost lost craft of handwriting, but also to alleviate stress and anxiety. Studies by Deakin University have ascertained that between 15 and 20 minutes of handwriting every day gives the writer a better sense of wellbeing and satisfaction with life.
The workshops will be held each weekend in September, in Underwood, near Slacks Creek. Each workshop is two hours long, over two consecutive days. Topics covered in the four workshops will be goal-setting, letter-writing, gratitude journaling and creative writing.
Courses such as these have proved popular, with several writers continuing along the path to publication aided by local Print companies and graphic designers who produce booklet printing.
The first workshop, on goal setting, will be held at Officeworks in The Zone, 183 Kingston Road, Underwood, tomorrow, September 2, and Sunday, September 3, from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. The other three workshops will follow on the subsequent weekends until Sunday, September 24. These events are free, and suitable for the whole family.
