Recreational corridor and pathway slated for Slacks Creek

Slacks Creek will be the focal point for a range of upgrades planned by the Logan City Council.

As part of the Springwood Implementation Fund, $3.2 million will be spent on creating a 780 metre-long green corridor which will connect Compton Road and Moss Street.

A path will be constructed that will curve through parklands and end up at recreational facilities. A bridge and a boardwalk will be built to cross over Slacks Creek, with benches and bike shelters also included in the design. Artistic sculptures will be placed at strategic positions along the path, to enhance the overall aesthetic experience.

The Queensland state government has contributed $827,000 to the project from the government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grant (CNLGG). Local council will provide the remainder of the funding as per the 2017-18 budget. Council may use brochure printing to create informative material on projects like this for interested members of the community.

David Hansen, Logan City Council’s director of Strategy and Sustainability said that residents would be able to access an area of Slacks Creek that was previously not available to the public. He further commented that this and other projects undertaken in the wider area, would benefit residents by providing greater lifestyle opportunities as well as enhancing the community's overall security and safety.
