Get lost in a good book at a local book reading

Fans of Penguin novels are in for a treat as the Logan North Library is staging a reading from one of Australia's best loved authors.

People from Slacks Creek and the surrounding area will be able to enjoy 'House on the Hill' by Brisbane based author Estelle Pinney. Growing up in the town of Mareeba in North Queensland, Pinney had a colourful career as a colorist, a beauty consultant, a deckhand on a fishing boat and an ambulance driver during World War II.

Her acclaimed novel, which has been reproduced by printing companies across the world, follows the ups and downs of three sisters living in Queensland. The youngest of the sisters is Belle, a singer and a dancer who tours western Queensland with a vaudeville troupe. It explores the romance in her life and the tough decisions she must make when it comes to love or her career. Molly is head cook at a local hotel but her happiness with the man she loves is in jeopardy, and eldest sister Josie is tested when her life suddenly goes in an unexpected direction.
Attending a book reading like this is a fun, entertaining and sociable way to be introduced to a book, and is an ideal introduction to the author's work. This event is sure to be enjoyed immensely by any of those who attend.

The reading will take place on 13th June 2012 at 10am at The Logan North Library and entrance is free.
