Faster internet speeds coming to Slacks Creek

Speedier internet connections around Logan Central, Slacks Creek, Woodridge and Springwood will be available soon.

Luke Smith, the Mayor of Logan, has spoken out about the potential impact of slow internet speeds in parts of Queensland. However, digital printing in Slacks Creek will get a boost later this year as faster internet comes on stream. Kylie Lindsay, a senior executive at NBN Co, explained the improvement process. She said:

"Determining the sequence is a complex process of weighing up factors including the location of construction resources, current service levels, existing broadband infrastructure, growth forecasts and proximity to NBN infrastructure such as the transit network.”

Lindsay stressed that nowhere is going to miss out, but she has underlined some of the constraints which have held back progress in the past. In particular, she has mentioned the impact of limited economic resources and has touched upon the issue of physical resources.

The Mayor of Logan is likely to be pleased when the work is completed because he is of the view that local economic development has been hampered by slow internet connections in the region. He has argued that small enterprises have suffered because of their lack of connectivity.

Beau Mitchell, a resident of nearby Bethania, has said how frustrated he has become due to a sluggish internet connection. As a former student at the Open University, he has blamed poor internet performance for his failure to complete his course.
