Art lovers have less than a week left to see works by renowned artists at the Art Gallery of Western Australia’s Picasso to Warhol exhibition.
The exhibition, which finishes on Monday, December 3, is a fantastic chance to see 120 original works by 14 artists who are credited with redefining art.
The show includes examples of pop art, cubism and abstract expressionism, including well-known pieces such as Andy Warhol’s ‘Campbell’s Soup Cans’, among other works with which visitors may not be so familiar.
Alongside Picasso and Warhol, the exhibition features such artists as Jackson Pollock and Joan Miro. The show, which was arranged in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art in New York, is exclusive to the Perth gallery, giving Bellevue residents an excellent opportunity to view famous artworks in their local area.
After touring the exhibition, poster printing gives visitors the ability to display their favourite artworks at home with a reprint of the original work.
Art enthusiasts who also love to party should head to the gallery this Friday, November 30, for the AGWA Nights Last Hurrah party.
To celebrate the end of the season, a ticket to the party includes entry to the Picasso to Warhol exhibition, plus entertainment from comedian Dave Callan, jazz from Perth musicians Nick Abbey and Chris Foster, and Freemantle band Rainy Day Women. Video artists VJ Zoo will be creating Warhol-like video screen projections during the event as well.
The Art Gallery of Western Australia is located at the Perth Cultural Centre. For more information and tickets, visit the gallery’s website.
