History to come to life in upcoming Fortitude Valley event

Locals and visitors will soon have the chance to walk down memory lane with the 100 Years 100 Stories Community Day.

The event will be a centennial celebration for Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley area that will mark 100 years since Carroll's Corner and the Rollinson Buildings, both heritage-listed and iconic structures, were built in 1925.

The event looks to combine both the area’s cultural heritage alongside the live music ecosystem of the “Valley”. Organisers are planning a varied program that will run from morning through to late-night and will mix heritage tours, along with music and markets in California Lane.

For the artistic minded, live art, including street painting by David Hinchliffe, is also expected to be on show, rounding out a community-friendly experience for both locals and visitors.

In keeping with that experience, many parts of the day are free, except for the history tours that will cost around $10. Owner-manager Arthur Apostolos stated:

"The open day is a way to honour the businesses and the community that's kept this precinct alive and thriving for a century."

This marks a historic occasion for Fortitude Valley, celebrating a milestone of 100 years for its retail and business origins. Events like this can benefit from the use of poster printing in and around the district to help advertise and promote the day.

Visitors can look forward to stepping back in time for the 100 Years 100 Stories Community Day on Saturday, 22 November, starting 9:30 am and continuing into the evening.
