New school on track to welcome students in 2020

Construction has commenced on the eagerly anticipated new flagship high school in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.

Politicians including Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk were on site in November to turn the first sod and work is expected to ramp up in 2019.

The project has been awarded to Hutchinson Builders, a company that has a long history of building schools in the state. The project is expected to provide employment for 300 people in the construction phase. Graphic design is often used by construction companies when planning new projects.

The school is planned to cater for an enrolment of 1,500 students from years 7 to 12. A vertical design has been adopted to suit the urban inner-city location, the first of its kind in Brisbane.

The school will feature state-of-the-art learning spaces including, Robotics Studios, Technology labs and an Innovation Centre. The design also incorporates a Performing Arts Centre and a Sports Centre.

Sharon Barker has been appointed the foundation Principal for the new school and has called on parents to submit expressions of interest for enrolments and will use this data to include interested parties in the emerging school community.

Further information about the new school, enrolment management plans and expressions of interest can be found on the Queensland government’s your say building futures website.
