Fans of modern art should make their way to the Art Gallery of Western Australia, located in the Perth Cultural Centre in the next few months to check out its new exhibition showcasing some of the masters of the genre.
The gallery has secured more than 100 works by 14 iconic artists thanks to a partnership with the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The Art Gallery of Western Australia will be the only Australian venue to host these pictures so it is an opportunity for Bellevue residents to see art they might not otherwise get the chance to view. It is the first time that some of the works on display have been shown outside America.
The exhibition, which runs from now until Monday 3rd December, features work such as Andy Warhol’s famous Campbell Soup cans alongside work by artists such as Picasso, Jackson Pollock and Henri Matisse, and highlights a range of painting and printing techniques.
The exhibition is the first in a series arranged in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art, which will include design and photography.
Visitors can also explore the gallery’s large collection of Australian artwork alongside work from international artists.
For anyone who wants to take a piece of art home with them, poster printing and postcard printing allows the gallery shop to stock high quality reproductions of many of the pieces on show along with Books about the artists and exhibition Catalogues.
