The aim of WP is to buy the building before the end of 2015. The construction was formerly the property of Miller Brands, but it is now largely vacant. No doubt banner printing will be called for should the sale go ahead.
Where the beer distributor used to trade, only a small firm called Lamplight exists. According to Peter Ginn, a senior executive at WP, Lamplight is an outdoor candle manufacturer which currently uses part of the building for storage purposes. Lamplight reportedly has a monthly lease.
Ginn told Milwaukee Business Journal that:
“We're looking at different ways to cut it up, open up some interior walls, things like that. We're hoping to close (the purchase) by summer. We have a number of ideas percolating out there."
Ginn has revealed that WP has already taken the step of seeking advice in relation to it plans. The consultations that have taken place so far have included Mortenson Construction and Zimmerman Architectural Studios.
The building could be occupied by office workers or industrial employees. According to Ginn, WP showed formal interest in the site a few weeks ago.
With several potential tenants seemingly having already examined what could be made available, Wisconsin has passed Smart Growth laws and this may influence economic development in the area.
