Make-A-Wish Wisconsin on the move to Wauwatosa

The Wisconsin branch of the Make-A-Wish organization will soon be moving its headquarters to Wauwatosa from its current location in Butler.

According to the organization, the reason for the move is due to the growth it has experienced over the last 20 years. It recently signed a five-year agreement to lease a 10,050 square foot space at 11020 W. Plank Court. It plans on moving in sometime around the middle of March.

A spokesperson for the group, Forest Doolen, remarked that when it first started its operation 25 years ago, there were only two people working in the office. That has since grown to be 15 staff members who are employed full time, 4 to 6 interns, and anywhere from 10 to 15 volunteers at any given time. He noted the organization has simply outgrown its current space.

The move will also allow it to have a dedicated conference room, which is something it had to sacrifice for office space at its old location. A printer will be able to produce Letterheads and a variety of other items that it can use in its new space. These can be custom designed with the Make-A-Wish logo and updated contact information.

Since it first set up shop in the state in 1984, Make-A-Wish has been able to grant 5,500 wishes. In the past year alone, it granted 365.
