Area activity to support cognitive health

Wauwatosa older adults may experience cognitive changes as they age, and an event will encourage them, along with their care partner, to enjoy activities specifically designed for people in this situation.

The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center offers an assortment of activities for locals, and its SPARK! program will help to get the new year off to a good start. This topic for the afternoon is Hibernating Animals, and it is set to engage the senses, which can support good cognitive health.

The registrants will be encouraged to learn about and explore simple beauty that exists in nature, and the Center’s Director of Education Tom Finley will be the guide for the experience. Depending on the weather, the group may even be able to head outdoors for some fun in the fresh air, and everyone will need to dress for the weather. There is no fee for the attendees.

It was noted by the organizers of this initiative that the location is accessible to those who need a mobility device such as a wheelchair. A poster printing company will have ideas for promoting local events, and they offer a budget-friendly way to get the word out to the public.

January 11 has been set as the date for the first installment of the SPARK! program for 2022. It will start at 1:00 pm, and both members and non-members are welcome.
