Upcoming event to raise funds for local state park

The 4th annual Urban Island Beach Party is taking place this August in Milwaukee, and will be a fundraising event for the Friends of Lakeshore State Park.

The party is expected to feature more than 30 food trucks selling a wide variety of offerings. There will also be live entertainment, a DJ, a pig roast, and a free beer for those who ride bikes, walk, or take the bus.

Musical acts that are already confirmed for the event include Soul Low and Cheers Elephant. There is also going to be a pineapple smash with the mayor and a find the flamingo contest, complemented by hula hoop and limbo contests.

Those who wish to can also learn how to kayak, canoe, or ride a stand-up paddle board, all hosted by the Milwaukee Kayak Company. Local community groups and organizations will also be showcasing their services and programs in the Non-profit Village, which will be curated by the United Way.

This event should be a fun family outing and will give visitors from nearby areas like Greenfield a chance to experience some of what the park has to offer to them. It will be held at Lakeshore State Park on August 1 from 4:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and is free to attend. For more information about the day's activities, visit the Newaukee website.
