The Greenfield Division of Public Works handles the collection of fallen leaves every year in the fall. It recently released a simple graphic design that shows the schedule for which areas will be served and when.
Fall is coming, and with it, lots of fallen leaves. They tend to clog up gutters and are an unwelcome addition to lawn surfaces, but city officials will make it easy for residents to get rid of the leaves. The schedule for leaf collection times may change depending on the weather.
City officials have asked residents to make sure that their leaf droppings are placed on the curbside by 7:00 am on pickup day, which is always on a Monday. People are asked to mulch their leaves for easy pickup or drop them off in person at the Division of Public Works in bins left out at the side of the building. All leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper Bags.
The city officials would also like to remind residents that the service is free, although leaves will not be picked up if the Bags:
- include other material such as grass clippings, branches or stones
- are blocked off by obstacles such as parked cars
- are placed too far from the curb or placed in inappropriate places, such as driving lanes and ditches
- are left in an alley
According to the schedule, the pickups will be conducted every other week until the middle of November.
