As part of its monthly discovery series, the Wehr Nature Center in Franklin, just a few minutes from Greenfield, will hold the Nature Wizard for Families: Rocks Rock! Discovery Walk for families who are members of the Friends of Wehr organization.
The Friends of Wehr is a non-profit partner of the Wehr Nature Center, supporting its mission to enable and inspire the community to appreciate the nature world. Open to members who are at family membership level or higher, the walks feature a short introductory activity that is followed by a guided nature walk lead by a naturalist.
February’s walk theme will revolve around rocks. Participants will have fun learning about the Wehr Center’s collection of fossils, minerals, and rocks. Working as a team, families will have the chance to explore and identify different minerals in a classroom setting. Afterwards, attendees will go on an indoor and outdoor scavenger hunt to find the rocks they learned about.
Activities will an educational outdoor element often utilize maps, Brochures, and other printed instructional materials, so organizers may call upon brochure printing services to prepare of such events.
The Nature Wizard for Families: Rocks Rock! event is scheduled for February 6 from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm. Wehr Nature Center is located at 9701 West College Avenue, Franklin. This is a member-only event and is no cost to members.
