Ice rink opens in Greenfield

The season for ice skating in Greenfield has arrived and winter enthusiasts were showing off their skills on the ice at the Dan Jansen Family Fest Ice Rink which is now open for business.

The Dan Jansen Family Fest Ice Rink held its grand opening on Wednesday, December 18. It opened at 6:00 pm and it was set up at Konkel Park. The grand opening featured special lighting around the rink and a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the occasion. Attendees at the grand opening were able to rent ice skates for free and to skate for free as well. Santa was there to share his Christmas joy. Several hot drinks such as coffee, cappuccino, and hot chocolate were given for free to help people keep warm on the frosty night.

Along with the free skating and free rentals, people were able to make use of an area for warming up and an official concessions stand will be open during the regular hours of operation. Concession stands tend to use banner printing to attract customers.

According to Scott Jaquish who is Greenfield’s director for parks and recreation, the rink’s total size is 50 feet by 110 feet, which be will enough space for 100 skaters to enjoy themselves comfortably.

Regular operating hours for the ice skating rink are from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm from Monday to Thursday, 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Fridays, and from noon until 9:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
