Greenfield to host park picnics

The Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department will host the Picnic in the Park series this summer, with two family-friendly events happening in July.

The Parks and Recreation Department serves the Greenfield community by providing and maintaining green spaces, parks, recreational facilities, and community enrichment. The Picnic in the Park series is aimed at families with young children and will provide educational activities surrounded by nature.

The first event in July will be the Raptor Program: Eagles & Friends, with the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center presenting the event. Children will get to meet and learn about a variety of birds, including owls, falcon, hawks, and a bald eagle during this program. The second event will present Jolie Canoli and Friends. Canoli is a performing artist and author-illustrator that utilizes her cast of puppet characters to tell immersive stories and get the audience involved.

Organizers recommend that attendees bring a picnic lunch, along with chairs and blankets to set up at the amphitheater. Outdoor events like this are often decorated with festive Banners, which organizers can get printed at local shops specializing in banner printing.

The picnic events are scheduled for July 7 and July 21 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. They will take place at Konkel Park, located on 5151 W Layton Avenue, Greenfield. The picnic series is free to attend.
