Greenfield residents who would like to play a role in the safety of the community and support local law enforcement have been asked to lace up their sneakers and join in the ‘Back the Blue 5k Walk and Kids Fun Run’ which will be held this summer.
The participants in the event will follow a 5km route, and the event will kick off at American Legion Oak Creek. Those who are interested can sign up on their own or as part of a team, and there will be a special run set up for the kids.
To help get the day off to a great start, a breakfast will be offered to the participants. There will also be opening remarks and guest speakers, and a World War II plane will fly over the crowd as well. The children’s event will be hosted by Bucky Badger and Bernie Berie and each of the runners will receive a finisher’s medal.
The organizers noted that plans are underway for special activities after the walk is over. A finisher’s medal is being designed, and a silent auction and live performance by a band is also slated for the day. A printer can use graphic design techniques to craft medals, awards and other items to distribute during an event like this to help thank those who took part for their support.
This chance to show some love to local law enforcement will be held on August 18. The Back the Blue Facebook page can be consulted for further details.
