Greenfield is set to host Ethan's Run Against Addiction 4K next month to remove the stigma addiction and raise awareness of it as a brain disease.
The event will be in honor of Ethan Monson-Dupuis, who passed away from an accidental overdose. Organizers wish to educate people on how addiction is not poor will power, but is instead a chemically based disease of the brain. The run will provide an opportunity for those to walk or run in honor of a loved one who is either in recovery or has passed due to addiction. Participants will be able to walk or run the 4K either in person or virtually. Proceeds raise from race entry fees will go towards The Ethan Monson-Dupuis Opiate Recovery Fund.
Packet pickup, which includes a T-shirt featuring the event’s Logo Design and a bib, will be available for in-person participants at the Greenfield Public Library on August 4. For virtual participants living in Washington, Milwaukee, Racine, Ozaukee, and Waukesha, and packet pickup is at the Greenfield Public Library on August 5. All other virtual participants will have their packets mailed to them.
The 4K event is scheduled for August 6, and the in-person run/walk will be at Konkel Park on 5151 West Layton Avenue. Information on registration fees can be found on the race event website.
