Dogs to lead the way in Milwaukee

The 3rd annual Barktoberfest is taking place at the end of this month, and is a presentation of Residents for Off-leash Milwaukee Parks (ROMP).

The festival promises to have lots of fun for both guests and their dogs, all with a Bavarian twist and a range of beers available. There will be agility and lure courses and a pet costume contest. A demonstration of the Milwaukee County Correctional Facility's K-9 unit will be complemented by live music from The Talisman, and food and drink for purchase.

Guests can bring their own beer mug, rent a mug for $6, or purchase a commemorative mug for $10 (which comes with $1 off each beer and a raffle ticket). Extra raffle tickets are $5 each.

In addition, there will be a variety of vendors selling pet-related merchandise, and several animal rescue organizations will be providing information on their programs.

It is likely that many people will take the short trip from surrounding suburbs such as Greenfield to attend this annual event. Organizers may have invested in flyer printing services to help spread the word about the festival.

Barktoberfest will be held at the Estabrook Park Beer Garden on September 27 from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm. There is no admission fee, but attendees are advised that all dogs must be leashed at all times. For more information about the festival, call 414-364-6488.
