In preparation for the new school year, The Philippine Center will host Free Backpack Day in August to help Greenfield kids and their parents with school supplies.
The Philippine Center is a cultural and civic center founded by Filipino Americans to serve the Filipino and American community in Milwaukee and the surrounding area. The Free Backpack Day event is a part of the center’s Children Literacy Program, which provides children with Books and encourages a love of reading.
Free Backpack Day will provide all children ages 3 to 12 with a free backpack filled with back-to-school supplies. The children will also receive a free book, one free clothing item, and one free pass to the Milwaukee Art Museum. The first 100 children will also get a special snack pack. In addition, parents will receive a free child ID kit.
Organizers recommend that parents register their child beforehand to ensure they get a backpack as supplies are limited. To do so, parents can email mprill@philippinecenter.com with their child’s name and age.
The Free Backpack Day event is scheduled for Sunday, August 1, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. It will take place at 3717 West Howard Avenue, Greenfield.
Organizers of school-related events often utilize flyer printing to get the word about event specifics to parents and similar interested individuals.
