Hudson event offers feathery fun

Spring’s arrival means millions of migrating birds are on the move, and a Hudson event will offer them a warm welcome.

Whether they are interested in the feathered friends that are staying put or are just making a stop on their way north, the Wings of Spring Festival will be an activity that many birders are sure to enjoy. The free activity will be held at 279 South Cove Road and is being hosted by the Carpenter Nature Center.

The day will kick off with an early morning bird hike, for which registration is required. This will be followed by a demonstration of bird banding, and everyone will learn how this helps researchers follow migration patterns and populations. There will be other fun as well, including Birding 101 and additional stations. Crafts for the kids will be on offer, and everyone can learn how to make their property more bird friendly, including advice for preventing window strikes. Coffee will be served.

To encourage everyone to visit as many of the stations as they can, Migration Passports have been prepared for the attendees to have stamped for a chance to win one of a range of Corporate Gifts. Specialized printing services for an activity can be sourced from area printers.

Feathery fun will be coming to the community on Saturday, May 9. The first bird hike begins at 6:00 am.
