Cinephiles in the Green Bay area are looking forward to the Sixth Annual Green Bay Film Festival. The multi-location event features amateur and independent films that cater to a variety of tastes.
First begun in 2011, the Green Bay Film Festival was started by a group of community leaders who wanted to increase interest in the art of film within the greater bay area. The festival is meant to achieve the dual goals of educating people about film making techniques and growing interest in movie-making techniques.
The main weekend of the event will show over 100 different films. The list includes local films such as ‘Excising the Heart’ (a documentary following the demolition of a barn while discussing themes of decay and change) and international films such as ‘Khoj’ (an Indian thriller about a policemen investigating claims of a screaming woman at a doctor’s house). Panel discussions will also be held discussing some of the films, or filmmaking technique in general. Flyers with a full list of the screenings and events taking place are available around town or on the website.
The Green Bay Film Festival will take place on May 2 to 4 at a wide variety of cinemas and theaters around Green Bay. A gold pass covers every day of the event and costs $75, and a day ticket can be purchased for $20. Anyone interested in more info can visit the website.
