Virginia Beach to go green

The Hampton Roads Sustainable Living Expo will take place at the Virginia Beach Convention Center at the end of September. This is a two-part event, with day one will being a business lunch and day two offering excitement for the general public. Admission for day one is $25 while admission for day two is free.

The business lunch on September 28 will take place from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. The keynote speakers will be Stewart Schwartz and Chris Stone. The topic under discussion will be "How sustainability affects your bottom line" and the lunch will end with a question-and-answer session. This will be an excellent networking opportunity for Virginia Beach business professionals, especially those interested in sustainability. Those who will be attending will no doubt be arranging for a business card printing order in advance so they have enough cards to hand out to everyone they meet.

The public expo will begin at 10:00 am on September 29. While admission is free, the public is asked to bring such items as cell phones to be recycled or to bring a non-perishable food item for the local food bank. The day will include hands-on activities, demonstrations, a vendor exhibit hall, and the 2012 Stewardship Awards presentation. The Stewardship Awards are given to those who have made environmentally-friendly improvements to their home, workplace, or a community facility.

For those interested in learning how to live a more sustainable life, this event will provide them with all the information that they need to succeed.
