What's Happening in Virginia Beach, VA…

Virginia Beach schedules back to school gathering

As Virginia Beach families prepare for the return to classes, they are invited to include an activity in their plans that may help the process go more smoothly.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools (VBCPS) has organized a Back-to-School Care Fair, which will connect the attendees with a variety of services and supports in the local area. Parents are reminded to bring their child’s ID, insurance card and vaccination record.

The organizers explained that there will be at least 100 community partners on hand that serve local youth. Admission will be free, and complimentary haircuts have been scheduled. The families can access vision screenings as well as school physicals, and kids in grade 7 and 12 can get their required vaccinations. The function will run for two hours at the Virginia Beach Convention Center.

As a further bonus for choosing to participate, the first 4,000 students to arrive will receive a fee backpacks, and the vendors may be distributing promotional pens and other swag. An assortment of fun activities will round out the celebration.

This opportunity for Virginia Beach scholars to head back to classes in high style will run from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on August 16th. The VBCPS website provides more details about the Fair and also general information for interested parents and caregivers.
