Virginia Beach launches attack on litter

The citizens of Virginia Beach have been told to get rid of their plastic Bags in a responsible way.

The City of Virginia Beach takes the issue of litter seriously, as the statements of recycling chief Linda Minner have made clear. The authority has been encouraging residents to participate in litter disposal drives for some time.

Minner recently attended the Keep America Beautiful event. She has said that it inspired her to get the message across to her local community.

It will be possible to communicate to the public by various means. A debate about prohibiting the use of plastic Bags in the state of Virginia is ongoing. Locally, the use of a printing company in Virginia Beach may be a way forward.

Minner has stated:

“Really, education is the biggest thing we can do to help our citizens. They want to do the right thing, but they need to know what that right thing is.”

The city advises that plastic Bags should be taken to grocery stores or the local Landfill and Resource Recovery Center. They should not be thrown into blue recycling Boxes left near the sidewalk.

If a plastic bag is not put away in a responsible fashion, it can travel large distances, and Minner has warned about the potential for flying litter. If a plastic bag is to be put into the trash, it should be weighed down with other items.
