Each year, the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad (VBVRS) members give up their time to help save lives, and a special foodie friendly fundraiser will lend a hand with their efforts.
The organization responds to more than 19,000 calls a year, and it is hoping the public will respond to its call to attend its Oyster Fest, which will be for those age 16 and up. This will be its 49th year, and much of the food and drinks will be served all you can eat style.
The guests at the function will be treated to both stewed and fried oysters, and raw Seaside oysters will also be on the menu. Bowl of clam chowder will be served, and the landlubbers can fill up on BBQ pork and a selection of sides. Beer, wine and sodas will be on tap, and those who would prefer to celebrate with a specialty cocktail may purchase a ticket to do so. There will be demonstrations , auctions, displays and live music, and local artisans will have works on display.
While fundraisers are often focused on raising money, they may have another purpose as well. They help to increase public awareness of a cause, and a poster printing company will be able to help by preparing specialized decor.
The 49th annual VBVRS Oyster Fest will be serving up food, friends and fun on March 2nd. The Virginia Beach Convention Center will be hosting the festivities.
