An event is on the way to Virginia Beach that will showcase the beneficial bugs that can be found in the local area, and teach those who take part some of the steps they can take to invite them into their own home gardens.
Master Gardeners Ruth Burch and Karen Green will be guiding those who participate in the Insects and Pollinators Workshop through an exploration of the bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, flies, and other insects that pollinate flowering plants. There will be a discussion of how property owners can choose plants and provide water and shelter to encourage them to visit their flower beds, and they will also learn how to identify some of the different species they may encounter.
The event, which is open to anyone who is interested, will include a hands-on portion during which the attendees will craft a solitary bee house that they can take home and place in their own garden. The check in time starts at 12:15 pm, and while children are welcome and encouraged to take part, the organizers have asked that they be accompanied by an adult. A printer can provide Mailing services that keep people informed about events like this that will be taking place in their local area.
February 16 has been chosen as the date for this free workshop, and it will be held at 1444 Diamond Springs Rd in Virginia Beach. Anyone who has questions can contact vbmgapublicworkshops@gmail.com for more information.
