Apex Entertainment is to replace the Dick's Sporting Goods on Columbus Street in Virginia Beach.
In January, Dick's Sporting Goods in the town center will close, but there are already plans for the building totaling 84,000 square feet and spanning multiple stories.
Representatives from Armada Hoffler Properties, a real estate business in Virginia Beach, say the lease will be transferred to Apex Entertainment so it can create a state-of-the-art entertainment space for families.
Lynnhaven Mall has a Dave & Buster's and there was a Jillian's in Norfolk. Both of these qualify as a family entertainment center. Apex boasts that this location will be different as it is not just an arcade, but will have laser tag, go-karts, a bowling alley, and other indoor activities.
According to Louis Haddad, CEO and President of Armada Hoffler, the building's lease becoming available was a chance in a lifetime the company was waiting for, and the atmosphere of the Town Center will benefit from Apex's one-of-a-kind experience.
Apex supplies both entertainment and refreshment. It has over 40 food items that are gluten-free, and the ability to serve food to all people with dietary restrictions.
Virginia Beach will be the first Mid-Atlantic location for Apex. The Apex center is set to open in late 2020. Colorful graphic design on advertisements creates a sense of anticipation for a community a new venue like this.
