Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), a mental health issue faced by a significant number of American veterans, is being addressed at an event that will be taking place in Virginia Beach next month.
The Equi-Kids/Equi-Vets program, which is run out of the Therapeutic Riding Center, will be hosting an afternoon of cornhole, beer and wine tastings, and food. Those who come to the backyard barbeque party style function will be able to enjoy offerings from local craft breweries and wineries, and there will be a whole pig roast. Beer trucks will be on hand serving up ice cold drinks, and there will also be the Orange Crush Tent where guests can relax with a cold soda. Live entertainers will be on hand to keep the crowd rocking.
The event, which is open to anyone over the age of 21, will raise money to help support the Equi-Vets therapeutic riding program for both retired and active duty veterans. Participants have an opportunity to both ride and care for the horses and other farm animals while spending time with other vets who understand what they are going through. Brochures that describe this service and what it does can be prepared to distribute during an event like this.
The EQUI-VETS Warrior Cup Cornhole Classic will be held on September 9 at 2626 Heritage Park in Virginia Beach. More details can be obtained by contacting the organizers through the Equi-Kids website.
