Art show will highlight Virginia Beach

PNC Bank will host an art exhibition in Virginia Beach this fall.

The Boardwalk Art Show, by the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, has been a popular event in the city for 65 years. More than a quarter of a million guests attend every year to see pieces created by over 200 artists.

Virginia Beach officials and MOCA agreed on the new date. Ron Williams, the Virginia Beach Deputy City Manager, expressed his gratitude in securing a weekend for the event. The original date was in June but had to be rescheduled. Williams is excited for guests to arrive both from out of town and the local area.

According to Gary Ryan, executive director of MOCA, the art show is a signature staple in the city. The safety and entertainment of attendees is the top priority of the museum. Several unique artists put in an application for the show. Officials hope artists can display their work to the right buyer.

Virginia MOCA allows the community to view contemporary art both in person and online. Admission is always free for members and currently is free for all thanks to sponsors. It is open Thursday through Sunday and exhibitions are constantly changing.

The Boardwalk Art Show will take place on October 23 and 24 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and October 25 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
