Art competition is open to everyone

The sixth annual Chalk the Walk ArtSplosion is happening this July in Virginia Beach.

The event will take place on the Boardwalk between the 15th and 17th of the month. There is no fee to participate, but those who do are asked to bring their own chalk. Participants can compete in categories such as Amateur, Professional and Youth.

Each person will be given a 4 x 4 ft space for their creation. A panel of judges from the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Arts will judge the pieces based on composition, creativity, and theme, which will be announced on the day. Prizes will be given to the top three in each category, and members of the public also get to cast their votes for the Boardwalk’s best piece.

This will be just one of the many events taking place in the city during the summer. It is one that will allow both residents of Virginia Beach and visitors to show off their artistic talent. It may be one of the events that local brochure printers will be asked to include in the Booklets that are created each year for the tourism industry.
