Pollinators to take pride of place during Pasadena celebration
When people think of pollinators, pretty butterflies or buzzing bees often come to mind. A Pasadena event will introduce the public to the other creatures that can be good friends to gardeners and explain why they are so important to local ecosystems.
The celebration, which is family-friendly and open to all, will offer an introduction to the insects, birds, mammals and other creatures that are an important part of the life cycle of many plants. The group will also find out what they can do to promote pollinators.
During the function, the attendees will discover the many species of bees, butterflies, moths, bats, and beetles that are important pollinators for the Pasadena area. They will also find out easy ways to attract them to their own yard, and both Armand Bayou Nature Center members and nonmembers are welcome.
Tickets for this April gathering start at $2 for kids and $4 for adults, and a special discount is on offer for seniors. Sheets that include instructions for making a bee house, and other ideas for inviting pollinators to a property, can be prepared for the participants in this type of event can be supplied by local print shops.
