Humble ornithologists, whether novices or experts, can look forward to a birdwatching event this summer, led by experienced bird experts Paul Gregg and Christy Jones.
The survey will be a guided tour through the lush greenery in Mercer’s gardens and the long forest trails that run along the Cypress Creek flyway. The trees in this area provide an idyllic environment to birdwatch and are suitable for both experienced and new birdwatchers.
To attend, participants must register online before the event, and they can do this now. The organizers recommend wearing walking shoes and clothing suitable for the warm weather, as the activity involves walking along the 1.7-mile Mercer trail path that comprises crushed asphalt trails. Participants should carry their own binoculars, a guide to identify birds, insect repellent, and water. Children below 12 years of age are not permitted to attend. Kids older than 12 must participate with a guardian or parent.
To get more information about the event, participants can call 713-274-4160. This outdoor event allows for social distancing, although masks are required while entering a Mercer building. Organizers often use banner printing to put up information about birdwatching events and nature walks.
The event will be held on Thursday, May 27 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Mercer Botanical Gardens, 22306 Aldine Westfield Road.
