Humble event to re-enact 1830s Texas

Humble will celebrate the 36th Annual Pioneer Day next month with a festival that will offer a glimpse into what life was like in 1830s Texas.

The event will be hosted by the Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, a 312-acre nature preserve that offers a network of trails and an educational facility. The preserve also hosts various educational programming and events, such as Pioneer Day, free of charge thanks to the Jesse Jones Park Volunteers.

Pioneer Day will feature historical re-enactments of daily life in Texas in the mid-1800s. Attendees will learn about the early settlers of the region, as well as the area’s Native American histories and lifestyles. There will be living history demonstrations, such as woodworking, blacksmithing, spinning, and open-fire cooking.

Attendees can also enjoy taking hayrides, listening to folk music, and walking to the Redbud Hill Homestead. Concessions will be available, and the preserve will also be holding a native plant sale.

Festivals like this are often advertised in school and library bulletin boards in the form of Flyers, which can be printed at community Print shops specializing in flyer printing.

Pioneer Day will be held on Saturday, November 12, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center is located on 20634 Kenswick Drive. There is no cost to attend.
