Humble breweries start taking customers

Breweries and bars can now operate at 25% of their normal capacity while restaurants in Humble can operate at 50% capacity, following Governor Greg Abbott’s decision to start the first phase of reopening Texas businesses to the public.

Business owners such as Debbie Bixby of Green Oaks Tavern in Humble were happy to open and understand that they will have to keep up with the new rules. Some of them managed to keep all of their staff and get federal funding thanks to the Paycheck Protection Program. Bixby also said:

“The sooner we get started, the sooner hopefully everything can get back to a more normal capacity that we can have. We can take all the precautions we can…. but in life there’s no guarantees.”

Green Oaks Tavern used to entertain its guests with live music for six nights every week. Live music will be available in the lounge area, although with a smaller audience. As an extra safety precaution, Bixby’s staff will be taking people’s temperatures as they arrive. Print shops can be consulted for signage that details the new rules.

Back Pew Brewing spans more than 14 acres, so following the rules may be easier for this establishment. No more than 24 patrons and 3 staff members are allowed in the taproom at a time. The brewery has outdoor seating as well as a portable toilet and food truck, so guests do not have to go into the main building.
