DeLorean close to making a comeback

In Humble, Texas, a famous company in motoring is on the brink of being revived.

A local man named Stephen Wynne has bought the trademarks for the DeLorean company and his Business Cards now read ‘Chief Executive of the DeLorean Motor Company’. Wynne plans to produce a new model, however legal red Tape is slowing the process down.

The De Tomaso brand, a famous car brand that specializes in luxury cars, revealed the P72 supercar at the Goodwood Festival Speed and it sparked conversations among classic car lovers about whether other models could make a comeback, such as the De Lorean.

The DeLorean company made a name for itself with the DMC-12, which was in production from 1981-1983. Film freaks will remember the name of this car from the hit movie ‘Back to the Future’, but may notice that the car has not been manufactured at all since then.

The hype surrounding a new DeLorean may be more real than the chances of the DeLorean making a comeback. One company called TheSketchMonkey came up with their own take on what a 21st Century version of the DeLorean would look like and produced a rather sleek design. In TheSketchMonkey’s design, the iconic proportions were kept and a few changes were made to the grill and the headlights. The hood, however, still looks very much like the original.
