The Homestead Heritage Day is taking place next month in Humble. This annual event is always held on the second Saturday of each February.
The main attraction here is the 1830s Redbud Hill Homestead. Visitors to the homestead will be treated to demonstrations and displays representing several time periods in Texas’ history. There will be re-enactors in period costume, Civil War drills, old-fashioned games to play, and pioneer and Native American crafts. Visitors will also learn some vintage survival skills, learn some pioneer lore, and enjoy some heritage music performances.
The various demonstrations will include pioneer construction, spinning and weaving, and open-fire cooking. The homestead itself features a chicken house, blacksmith, and woodworking shops and a pioneer garden. There are also wagon rides and Native American dwellings. Visitors can enjoy some samples from the bread oven and visit the smokehouse.
Families interested in the history of their community and state will no doubt be excited about attending this popular annual event. To help spread the word about it in Humble, organizers might decide to invest in booklet or brochure printing services.
The Homestead Heritage Day will be held on February 11 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center. Admission is free of charge. For more information on planned activities during the day, call 281-446-8588.
