Houston Zoo seeking public support for fundraising walk

Next April, Houston will be doing a good turn for endangered animals by joining in a walk that will raise funds for conservation efforts at home and abroad.

The Houston Zoo has organized its annual Walk for the Wild, and the public is encouraged to lace up their sneakers and join in. The route will be 5km long, and there will be perks on offer for the participants to thank them for their support.

The activity, which has been sponsored by Bank of Texas, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital and other local companies, will welcome all ages. The walkers will follow a route that winds through the zoo so they can view the animals as they go. When they reach the finish line, there will be activities set up in the staging area such as a light breakfast, face painting, music, and other family friendly activities.

Along with the other perks, the function will include a prize draw. Winners will receive special animal experiences, Corporate Gifts, and other rewards, and there will be “milestone rewards” presented as well.

The day of fundraising is scheduled for April 21, and will open at 7:00am. Everyone in the community is encouraged to visit the zoo’s website so they can find out more about how they can get involved with this environmental stewardship project.
