Houston competition to celebrate culinary talent

An upcoming event in Houston is set to put steak front and center, highlighting the city’s strong ties to the beef industry.

This year marks the first ever RARE festival, which will showcase the culinary expertise of area chefs. Many of the city’s top chefs will be preparing food, and the excitement of a friendly competition is also in the works.

During the event, the chefs will each prepare steak according to their own personal secret recipe, before taking part in a head-to-head competition. A panel of professional judges will cast their vote for the top beef; they can choose from either the “Traditional Steak” or “Creative Steak Dish” categories. Each chef will also prepare a cocktail to pair with their entry, with the winner receiving both bragging rights and also the title of Houston’s Prime Cut.

In the listing for this culinary competition, it was pointed out that the function will highlight local producers of humanely raised, all-natural meats. Print shops can prepare a special award to present to the winners of a culinary or other contest.

Houston foodies are invited to be part of this steak-filled celebration, which is on the way for October 19th. It will be taking place at POST Houston, located at 401 Franklin Street. There are several ticket choices available for potential attendees to choose from.
