The landmark Heights Theatre, built in 1923, has been purchased by developer Edward Cabaniss.
The Heights Theatre is among a handful of properties in Houston that have been designated as protected landmarks. This restricts what changes the owners of the property can make to the building in order to preserve its history.
Preservation has always been one of Cabaniss’ goals. Indeed, it was a renovation in 1935 after a fire that led to the iconic landmark sign that now stands majestically in the front of theatre.
Cabaniss is also the owner of the newly transformed Kessler Theatre in Dallas, which accommodates a variety of events and is available to be rented out by community organizations and individuals. He is looking forward to the day when the Heights Theatre reopens and the theatre is again alive with the celebrations and energy that once were the soul of the building.
Residents of Houston look forward to the results of this transformation of their beloved landmark, which will be available to the general public to rent for various events. As residents await the unveiling of the new theatre, the owners could benefit from Direct Mail printing services of a local printing company to advertise the types of events the newly multiuse facility can accommodate. Currently, the facility is slated to provide space for events such as weddings and concerts.
Locals will not have to wait too long for the transformation, as Cabaniss hopes to have renovations completed by mid-2016.Get a Free Quote for Direct Mail
