Festival celebrates the Asian-American community

The Lunar Lantern Festival is taking place in Houston next month for two days.

A celebration of National Asian Heritage Month, representatives from all over the Asian-American community will be recognized, including those from Vietnam, China, India, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Vendors will be on hand to sell a variety of traditional foods, as well as related merchandise from all of the countries.

There will be plenty of entertainment to appeal to people of all ages, like strolling performers, martial arts displays, a dragon parade, and a lantern exhibit. There will also be eating contests, a fashion show from Danny Nguyen, and film screenings. The Creative Activity Zone will have activities for children, including calligraphy and henna. Other activities are set to include an Asian ‘Shark Tank’, fitness demonstrations and the chance to add to the children’s dragon mural.

No doubt this festival will attract people from all over the Houston area who are either of Asian descent or just interested in the culture. It is likely that a local poster printing firm may be asked to provide advertising materials.

The Lunar Lantern Festival will be held at Post HTX from April 29 to 30. Tickets are $12 in advance for adults and $4 for children, while food tickets are purchased separately. To find out more about this festival and the planned activities, call 713-598-5150.
