A variety of crops tend to perform best in cool weather, and a Houston workshop will introduce these varieties to gardeners in the area.
This in-person event will share secrets of successful cool weather gardening. Limited to just 15 participants, it will be a hands-on activity, so the attendees should be prepared to get dirty, and social distancing protocols will be in place.
During the Cool Weather Vegetable Gardening seminar, the facilitator will introduce vegetables suitable for planting in the fall. As a good growing medium provides a strong foundation for these plants, soil building and amendments will be discussed, and composting, mulching and planting will be on the agenda. The pros and cons of using transplants and plant starts will be reviewed as well.
The participants in an activity like this are often eager to learn, and to help make it easier for them to get growing a home, handouts that include lists of veggies suitable for fall planting will be distributed. Stationery printers will be able to prepare items like these.
The Urban Harvest Teaching Gardens will be on offer on October 2, beginning at 6:00 pm. Its scheduled runtime is one and a half hours. The registration fee for the evening is $20 each, and the organizers have pointed out that refunds will not be issued.
