Helping hands sought for Houston planting project

As the Houston area gears up for another gardening season, an activity will see them public lend a hand to the environment by giving a local site some care.

The Houston Arboretum has plans in the works for its biannual celebration. Dubbed “Plant-A-Palooza,” it will ensure that the grassland ecosystem is well stocked with native grasses, and since they will have a local provenance, it is anticipated that they will thrive in their new homes.

The registrants for the activity will plant native wildflowers and grasses grown at the Arboretum, which will ensure that they will be there for the animals and other plant species that depend on them for survival. It will also provide diversity in the ecosystem. The work will take place outdoors, and the organizers have requested that everyone observe social distancing measures. Masks may be required, and the function is intended for those age 16 and up.

Hands-on activities are often especially popular when themed around nature, offering a fun way to perform important environmental work. A flyer printing company will have an assortment of economical ways of promoting a function to the public.

Plant-A-Palooza will be showing some love to the fields at Houston Arboretum on Friday, April 9. The activity will start at 9:00 am, and the work will continue until 12:00 noon.
