Conference to discuss future of industrial computing

The Oil and Gas High Performance Computing Conference is taking place in Houston next month for three days. The day is a presentation of the Ken Kennedy Institute for Information Technology.

The event is aimed at industry professionals, students, and academic faculty.

The three-day event will consist of workshops, speakers, panel discussions, and social opportunities. Attendees will choose to attend two workshops (out of a choice of four). Topics are set to include best practices and singularity containers, and the panel discussion will be on early careers.

Among the speakers who will be attending the conference are Toni Collis from Women in HPC, Brent Gorda of Arm and Dan Stanzione, from the Texas Advanced Computing Center.

Guests will also receive afternoon refreshments, continental breakfasts and a boxed lunch. There will also be a cocktail reception where attendees can network with their peers.

There are a variety of conference fees. For professionals, the full conference will cost $150 until February 28. The fees will be $100 for academic attendees not from Rice University, $75 for Rice faculty and staff, and $50 for students both Rice and non-Rice. Workshops cost an extra $150.

Houston printing services companies are often asked to provide printed products used at industry conventions.

The Oil and Gas High Performance Computing Conference will be held at Rice University’s BioScience Research Collaborative Building from March 4 to 6. For more information about this event, contact Victoria Langlais at 713-348-5823.
