The Houston West Chamber of Commerce, which includes Bellaire, has announced that its Government Affairs committee will be hosting a review of local flood maps, discussing their pros, cons, and how they will impact local businesses and development.
This event is part of the Chamber’s efforts to keep local businesses informed about the happenings of their local government. The Government Affairs Committee concentrates on five specific areas: flood mitigation, workforce, education, public safety, and transportation/infrastructure. Houston has had many challenges with flooding over the past few decades, and the revealed flood maps will discuss where flooding is likely, how it can be mitigated, and how local businesses and developers can prepare to manage flood-related issues. Members who may be impacted by flooding or who have an interest in this area are encouraged to attend.
The event will be held at Truluck's Crab and Seafood, which is located at 5350 Westheimer Road, in Houston. It will be held on May 25. Doors to the event open at 11:15 am and will have 30 minutes for networking - as such, event attendees are encouraged to bring Business Cards. Opening remarks will begin at 11:45 am, followed by the program that will review the flood maps. There will be 15 minutes for questions and answers.
