Music legend to hit the road

A popular performer will be heading out for a new series of concerts, stopping in the Bellaire area in mid-November.

Chaka Khan is a singer, activist, songwriter, philanthropist, author, businesswoman, and actor. Starting out in the early 1970s as the main vocalist in the hitmaking group Rufus, Khan has gone on to cement her place in music royalty. With several Grammy Awards and over 20 albums to her name in addition to her work on stage and in soundtracks, the 69-year-old has not shown Signs of slowing down.

In 1999, Khan launched her charity, known as the Chaka Khan Foundation. She has also launched several businesses, including a chocolate company and a line of fragrances. Some of the songs under her belt are “Tell Me Something Good” with Rufus, “Ain’t Nobody,” “What Cha’ Gonna Do for Me,” “I’m Every Woman,” “Keep Your Head Up,” and “Like Sugar.”

The star’s latest tour will be coming to the Arena Theatre in nearby Houston. The venue and Khan ask that attendees do not use any cameras or other recording devices. Guests of all ages are required to present a ticket in order to enter. Tickets can be bought through Ticketmaster and range in price from $49.50 to $99.50.

The concert is set to kick off at 8:30 pm on Friday, November 11.
