Arlington project gets green light

City council has approved the development of a section in North Arlington.

The development, which will be called ‘Champions Park’, will cost more than $30m to complete and cover an area of 14 acres at the corner of Collins Street and Interstate 30 in the Arlington Entertainment District.

It is to be built in different phases, with the first being the construction of 84,000 square feet of restaurants and retail establishments, as well as an outdoor area that can be used for outdoor concerts, festivals, farmers’ markets, and other events. The goal is to make it a place to which people want to come and spend time on a regular basis.

The second phase will involve the construction of office space, more retail space, parking, and perhaps a movie theatre and boutique hotel.

The project is being undertaken by Greenway Investments of Dallas, which believes that once phase one is completed and people start visiting the area, it will prove attractive to larger business such as the hotel and movie theatre.

The city’s planning and zoning committee gave unanimous approval for the development.

A new development project such as this can attract new firms to an area, which can in turn have spinoff benefits for the surrounding business community. A print company, which can provide materials like printed shopping bags, signage, and flyers, is one such establishment that can benefit.
