Arlington educators receive top marks
The Arlington School Board (ASB) was recently honoured at a gathering of other boards from all across the state.
The ASB was handed the honor of ‘Outstanding School Board of Texas’ by the Texas Association of School Administrators at its recent conferences. This put the ASB at the top of its field of 1,027 public school districts that were eligible. It is thought to be the very first time that it has ever even been nominated for this distinction.
Two of the deciding factors in the association’s decision were the comprehensive 2012-2015 strategic plan and also the facilities master plan and curriculum audit that the board undertook. These demonstrated the support for educational performance, an ability to work with each other, a strong code of ethics, and the dedication to improvement projects that the association was looking for.
Everyone in the district can vote during the selection of board members, and they also chose to support the largest district school bond; an idea that received the unanimous backing of the members.
One of the board’s responsibilities will be to ensure these funds are used wisely, and print companies can help by providing printed materials that they may need at an economical price. This will help to ensure the money will go as far as possible and that printed media is keeping locals informed.
